Health & Wellness
Our mission is to educate the whole child – mind, body, and spirit. Recognizing the connection between academic success and social-emotional growth, we incorporate health and wellness education into our students’ daily lives, using mindfulness practices, health education, the Responsive Classroom®, Developmental Designs™ strategies, and a strong advisory program to promote safe, healthy, and happy lives for our students and faculty.
All Lower and Middle School students participate in physical and health education that follows the Rhode Island Physical Education Framework. Upper School students meet the Rhode Island requirements through required athletic participation. Students in all divisions experience mindfulness training such as meditation, relaxation and awareness techniques, and yoga practices; team and community building exercises; and a focus on healthy eating habits, composting, and sustainable cooking.
Rocky Hill Country Day also hosts annual special events that include a Healthy Haunted House, Kids Heart Challenge, Field Day, and a national Mindfulness Conference for educators, parents, and health and wellness professionals.
